UV is high energy light. Wavelengths of light are measured in nanometers(NM). A nanometer is one billionth of a meter. SteriPEN™ is emitted at 254 nm on the UV-C range. Germicidal UV light (between 240 nm and 290 nm) damages a microbe’s DNA, thereby preventing reproduction. Without the ability to replicate the DNA, the microbe cannot reproduce and is rendered harmless. |

The Journey’s integrated LCD screen displays the user’s dose selection (1/2 liter or 1 liter), battery status and time remaining with a countdown to completion of the purification process.
